Born into a pastor's home, Avis Ward has been involved in the ministry all of her life. Her many years of experience in balancing the demands of ministry, marriage, miscarriages and divorce have qualified her to minister in many different areas. She particularly excels in the area of her anointing, exhortation and encouragement.

 

 

In the early years of ministry, Avis served under her mother, filling such roles as Sunday School teacher, choir director, youth minister, and church organist. She has also worked as church secretary.

As a PK (Pastor's Kid), our Founder is aware of the joys, responsibilities, disappointments and often isolated position of a ministry leader. Her mother served in the pastorate for 23 years, long before it was acceptable for women to preside, let alone preach from the pulpit. This first-hand knowledge prohibited her from accepting the call as an evangelist. When you ask her what happened, she simply answers, "I surrendered."

Meet Avis Ward who continues to tell you about who she is and what God is doing in her life.

In this ministry, we are first and foremost about sharing God's love. We share of His amazing grace and forgiveness. I have many years experience in "doing church" and performing excellently under the banner of religion. It was not until I was forced to deal with the most emotionally painful experience of my life (the loss of my infant daughter), that God confronted me. I felt abandoned by Him and was on my way to hell when He commanded my attention, pouring out His love.

I was allowed to wallow in self-pity, sin and private shame for a while. I had my "Damascus" experience as did Saul who later became the Apostle Paul. God spoke to me. I knew His voice. He said to me, "I made you for me. I poured my life and love into you. I have given you gifts that are too great for you to continue where you are headed. You belong to me!" Hallelujah! I weep at the memory of that afternoon. I was taken out by the Holy Spirit as I said, "Yes, Lord. Please forgive me." I repented.

The Holy Spirit cleansed me. I have been serving Him in a spiritually intimate relationship that I have attempted to describe in some of my writings. I'm fanatical about Jesus and His saving grace! I want everyone to enjoy His love and experience the life He has prepared for us on earth and with Him in heaven.

I have degrees, licenses and certifications. I have been ordained and have experience in business and industry. Most importantly, I have been baptized by fire, the Holy Spirit and He is my teacher. I believe in education and that also expands into Christian Leadership. I will have earned a Masters in Divinity in a few short months. I believe we should not be ashamed and must study to show ourselves approved, rightly dividing the word of truth. I feel the Holy Spirit is the greatest teacher there is! Therefore, I spend hours with God each day. I'm on His schedule.

I received experience and training under Rev. Viola P. Ward at Garden of Prayer, Church of the Living God in Florida. I also served under Presiding Elder Jimmy J. Thompson, New Bethel A.M.E. Church, also in Florida. I was saved at the age of eight. I wasn't water baptized until the age of 12, when I knew the Holy Spirit had filled me.

We're excited to see the works He will do in the lives of those this ministy touches. He has given us a Vision to empower by equipping. It will not be church as usual. A new thing is being done. Some call it cutting-edge, but it's simply living Holy and loving one another.
